The three social media platforms i'm going to conduct mini studies on are:
1. Vine
2. IndieGoGo
3. A9
Vine appears to be dated, but is the most interesting to me. IndieGoGo is similar to Kickstarter; it looks like another crowdfunding site. A9 confused me the most out of the 3 I choose to investigate. I don't feel like I can make an account with the site and successfully investigate it.
I am going to intensely investigate Vine.
People are not aware that Vine brings people together, just like Twitter or Facebook. Vine users are all over the world, enabling all users to experience short bursts of video from all countries and cultures. For this project I am going to push my own boundaries by advertising my videos on social media to see how many views on 3 videos I can get in on week.
Update 9/25:
Vine facilitates users to attempt to tell a story through video in a very short amount of time, six seconds. It enables people to come together socially in order to not only create these short videos, but also view and reflect upon the videos as well. Vine addressed the growing need humans feel to share their lives on the internet with each other. One can upload a Vine of them performing a simple task, and anyone can watch it; a family member can view the video and feel up to date with their loved ones life, just because of a short video. Before the internet, people had to record their actions on tape and then play it on a vcr or other playing device in order to share moments with family. Non-internet life is affected because it is a lot easier with Vine to share videos. Vine encourages user to upload fun, family friendly videos to the site. If a video, such as one containing nudity, is uploaded users can block the user and report the video. Vine opens the door to new social media technologies such as holographic Vines.
